You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements. Please plan to arrive to Chiclayo, Peru by June 14 (Sunday) as fieldwork will begin on Monday at 9:00am.
We recommend that you fly to the airport in Chiclayo (CIX). Chiclayo is served frequently during the day by flights from Lima. We recommend to purchase an international ticket all the way to Chiclayo as local airlines are known to cancel flights and their primary concern is travelers with international itineraries.
Peru is one of the popular tourist destinations in the world and many airlines (US and international) fly there. LAN (www.lan.com) is the only airline that offers direct flights between Los Angeles and Lima, with a subsidiary connection to Chiclayo.
A number of airlines fly to Chiclayo. The best prices are typically associated with the purchase of an international flight originating in the US and ending in Chiclayo. LAN operates direct flights between Los Angeles and Lima, and a number of US and other international carriers fly to Lima with easy connections at major hubs. Please remember that even if your ticket show direct flight to Chiclayo, all passengers must pick up their baggage in Lima and go through customs there.
Visa Requirements :
Tourist visas are issued at Peru's Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima. All flights in Peru, both domestic and international, are subject to an airport fee. Fees changefrequently but are approx. $37 for international flights and $7 for domestic flights. Make sure your passport is valid until at least 6 months after the date you are planning to return.
