Archaeology Argentina Location

Accommodations

Students will sleep in bunk beds in dormitory style rooms at the mountain retreat of Cartore near Torano.  Accommodations are hostel-style and simple, but comfortable.

Meals

Monday through Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided by the program. Students are responsible for their meals on weekends and field trips.

Please let us know when you apply for this program if you have special dietary needs, as well as any medical or physical conditions. We will advise you accordingly.

In the Field

We will excavate from 8 am to 5 pm with breaks for snacks and lunch in the field. Finds processing and class will be held at the dig lodging in the later afternoons.  We will tour sites and museums in Rome at the beginning of the season, and go on field trips to local archaeological sites and museums, including Alba Fucens, Sulmona, and L'Aquila, during the season.

As the project is located near direct buses to Rome, L'Aquila and Rieti and a half hour from the train station in Avezzano, on the main line between Rome and Pescara, students will be able to travel independently every weekend.
