Scholarships for UCLA Cotsen Archaeology/Archeology Field School Program

Scholarships for All Students

The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology (CIoA) has established six scholarships to support students participating in UCLA Archaeology Field Programs.  Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible and encouraged to apply. Scholarships are available to both UC and non-UC students. CIoA scholarship applications are due March 6, 2009. You can learn more about these scholarships on the downloadable application.

The UCLA Tribal Learning Community and Educational Exchange (TLCEE) is funding five student scholarships for individuals interested in archaeology and/or Native Heritage Protection.  Scholarships are available for both UC and non-UC students.  TLCEE scholarship applications are due March 3, 2009. The Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) is pleased to announce the Waldbaum Field School Scholarship for summer 2009. Established in honor of AIA Past President Jane Waldbaum, this scholarship provides $1,000 each for up to five successful applicants to help pay expenses associated with participation in an archaeological excavation or survey project (minimum stay: one month). The Los Angeles County Society of the AIA requests proposals from current members for a single scholarship worth up to $1,000 that is intended to support participation in an archaeological field project during the summer or autumn of 2009.  Support is intended primarily to assist undergraduate students gain field experience in preparation for further professional training and a career in an archaeology-related field.  Award funds will be used to cover eligible expenses.  Interested nonmembers are encouraged to join the AIA at the student level before submitting applications.  The application deadline is March 13, 2009.  You can learn more about this scholarship on the downloadable application.

Scholarships Targeting Specific Students/Issues

The Weibel-Orlando Undergraduate Anthropology Research Fund was established to commemorate her nearly 30 years of research and teaching of ethnographic research skills at the University of Southern California (USC).  Dr. Joan Weibel-Orlando and her husband, Robert A. Orlando, M.D., Ph.D., have established an endowment which will be used expressly to fund undergraduate ethnographic research efforts.  Open to every USC undergraduate major or minor in Anthropology, Archaeology or Health and Humanity.  You can learn more about this scholarship on the downloadable application.

Archaeology of Israel Scholarships
