I was very excited to be able to put all the information about archaeology I learned in class into practice and that's exactly what I got out of this field school. The field students, including myself, received an extraordinary archaeological education. We started from the very beginning of the excavation process, so we were able to experience every step of the excavation. The food was excellent, we received a lovely breakfast in the mornings, were given our lunches, and came back to a hot dinner everyday. There were adequate facilities for the amount of people staying at the camp site, there was never a problem. The landscape was beautiful, it was wonderful watching the sunset in the evenings. I met a lot of new, friendly people and made a lot friends on this excavation. The weather is variable so be prepared for rain, but for the most part the weather was very nice. Thanks again for a great experience. -Michael Evans, senior, UCLA, 2008 participant
The Lyminge Field School was an amazing experience. The amount of experience and knowledge I obtained was immense; including everything from cleaning back the bedrock, revealing the archaeological features, to full on excavation and documentation of said features, and my favorite, working on archaeological illustration by being taught to plan out the site. I also really enjoyed the various lectures set up for us and the field trips around Kent, England. I'm so glad that I went through with attending the Lyminge Field School! -Kristen Jacobson, 2008 participant
