Pimu Island Archaeological Project
Catalina Island, California
June 22 - July 26, 2008

Archaeology Catalina Location

Accommodations

Students will stay in modest platform tents with an outdoor kitchen facility, and indoor camping shower with hot water. Days will likely be warm and windy, nights cool to cold.  Students should bring their own sleeping bag or bedding.  All students will help with camp chores and laboratory work.  There will be limited to no cell or email service while in the field.

UCLA reserves the right to change the housing location. Should this become necessary, we will arrange comparable accommodations elsewhere.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided by the program Monday through Friday. Students are responsible for their weekend meals if they are away from camp.

Please let us know when you apply for this program if you have special dietary needs or any medical conditions. We will advise you accordingly.

Excursions

We will have a number of tours of Catalina Island focusing on different aspects of this rich environment.  Tours will be led by experts on local history, ecology, biology, and archaeology.

This program has limited free time for independent sightseeing. Please consult with the faculty about independent travel during the program.
