Travel

You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements.  Please plan to arrive in Hope, British Columbia by June 22 (Sunday).  Classes will begin on Monday, June 23 at 9:00 am.

If you are flying, we recommend that you arrange flights to and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or Abbotsford International Airport (YXX).  Vancouver is approximately two hours west of Hope by car, and three hours by Greyhound bus.  Abbotsford Airport is a little over an hour west of Hope.

A number of airlines fly to Vancouver.  Alaska Airlines and Air Canada typically have the best prices, but other carriers sometimes offer better deals.  Flights into and out of Abbotsford typically take longer and route through Calgary, although sometimes for lower fares than Vancouver.

Be sure to check local and metro bus schedules and routes from YVR and YXX airports to local Greyhound bus terminals.  One-way bus fares are typically no more than $25 CAD.  Greyhound has a small depot in Hope only 10-minutes (by foot) from the Telte-Yet campsite on the river’s edge.

Visa Requirements

The United States Department of Homeland Security requires all travelers entering the U.S. from Canada to be carrying a passport.  Thus, all students should have a current passport upon departing the U.S. for the field program in British Columbia.  There is no entrance fee to Canada or to the United States.p>
